Heavybit Welcomes New Member: Shipyard
Heavybit welcomes data orchestration startup Shipyard.
We’re excited to announce our newest member company, Shipyard – a company that helps teams dynamically create and manage ephemeral environments on Kubernetes. Organizations can easily create environments at any step in the software development life cycle e.g. personal developer environments, continuous integration environments, QA environments, staging environments, production environments, sales demo environments, etc.
Modern applications are increasingly decomposed into smaller interacting services (i.e. microservices), each of which can be modified, tested, and deployed in isolation. This decomposition enables engineering organizations to scale with small, loosely coupled teams. The problem however, is that an instance of the entire application, an environment, is now substantially more complex to create, configure, and operate. Shipyard takes that pain away by automating the creation of environments and providing higher-level primitives on top of Kubernetes for the whole organization. Design partners include Jyve and nTopology.
Co-founders Benjie and Peter met each other while advising for organizations helping Series Seed to Series B devtool companies and bring a combined 26+ years of experience in DevOps. Shipyard joins our small but growing list of Heavybit companies based out of NYC. They’re looking for engineers to join the team, you can learn more about their open roles here.
