In a recent blog announcement, PagerDuty explains why its IT Operations monitoring tools will benefit from a new PagerDuty Common Event Format (PD-CEF) for Splunk and AWS CloudWatch. This standardization allows users to see events from multiple sources in the same format with parsed details. You can see a comparison of PagerDuty’s old format versus the new, as well as other PD-CEF info, here.

Runscope details a new feature for webhooks testing as demonstrated in a post last week. This update to Runscope’s API testing capabilities allows its users to expand their monitoring capabilities by combining outgoing API calls and incoming callback requests, such as deliver confirmations, bot responses or GitHub commits, for an organized webhooks workflow.

Integration Tools

Webhooks are the topic of a Treasure Data post that shows how to use Zapier “Zaps” and Google Sheets to automate spreadsheet data imports to Treasure Data. A short tutorial is included in the post for those who want to give the Zapier/Treasure Data integration a shot.

For those wanting to convert popular AWS Lambda functions to Docker Images, a new set of tools from Iron.io come as good news. Iron.io’s feature announcement shows how users can import and run Lambda functions using Docker images as part of Iron.io’s Project Kratos Beta. The tool supports Node.js, Python and Java.

Go Ahead, Make My API

Apiary recaps their involvement in “the world’s first API design hackathon” that took place April 16 at the GitHub HQ, organized by API Craft San Francisco. Participants were tasked with improving or creating new features/behaviors for the GitHub Gist API. Each team used a different toolset including API Blueprint, Swagger and MuleSoft.
